Project Summary

A study is being
conducted to determine the short (10 years) and long-term (30 years)
requirements at the Thousand Islands Bridge and to develop a
long-term plan and implementation strategy.
It will also determine the feasibility of reducing future
crossing delays at the Thousand Islands Bridge.
The
focus of the Study will be:

To provide a
planning level analysis of the infrastructure and operational
capacity;

To identify
general social,
economic, environmental and transportation issues that must be
addressed in the development of future plans;

To determine,
if, and when, the capacity of the existing facilities will be
exceeded;

To identify
alternatives for resolving current issues and meeting future
requirements including capital investments and/or changes in
policies, processes and procedures;

To conduct a
planning level analyze of alternatives from an engineering,
social, economic, funding and environmental perspective and
identify possible local, regional and national impacts;

To identify the
planning level estimated costs associated with each alternative and identify possible means
of financing; and
-
To identify and
evaluate implementation issues provincial and state requirements
necessary for implementation and a timetable for accomplishment.
