Rules and Regulations Effective June 01, 2024
The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority operates bridges and related facilities in the United States and Canada by virtue of Title Four (4) of the New York State Public Authorities Law and by virtue of an agreement between the Authority and the Federal Bridge Corporation, Ltd. of Canada, governing those operations in Canada. These Rules and Regulations were adopted by the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority pursuant to Article 4, Section 8, of the New York State Constitution, Sections 101 and 102 of the Executive Law, Section 1630 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law and Section 578 of the Public Authorities Law (particularly Subdivisions 30, 34, and 35 thereof), and have the force and effect of law in the State of New York. As to those portions of the facilities located in Canada, these Rules and Regulations were adopted pursuant to Section 3 of the “Agreement between the Federal Bridge Corporation, Ltd. and Thousand Islands Bridge Authority for Operation of the Canadian Portion of the Thousand Islands Bridge” effective the 1st day of April 2021, the Canadian Railway Act, the Highway Traffic Act of the Province of Ontario, and the Shore Traffic Regulations of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority, P.C. 1962-1314 (SOR/62-367), and in conjunction with said Shore Traffic Regulations have the force and effect of law in the Province of Ontario.
